Coup tipped if Mugabe loses poll

Zimbabwe has received a large consignment of arms from China and recalled all reservists ahead of a general election on March 31, prompting fears the Army is planning to stage a coup in the event of a poll defeat for President Robert Mugabe.

The shipment includes assault rifles, military vehicles, riot equipment and teargas. Defence sources said the material would ensure the Army is well equipped in case Mugabe's Zanu-PF Party loses and needs military help to retain power.

Why haven't those people resorted to armed force to overthrow that tyrant yet?

Why was China allowed to export arms to Zimbabwe. We should have taken Mugabe out before Iraq!

Mugabe is a racist tyrannical hypocrate, who has starved half of his nation and murdered many white farmers and their black servants, and effectively targeted half his nation for genocide via starvation. The scariest thing about this is the fact that Thabo Mbeki, leader of South Africa, seems to wholehardedly support this guy. Seems like Mbeki is no Mandela.

No he's not!! really irks me China sold this F**K** weapons(not surprised though)....we should sell Tawian some f-15s and M1A1s to say thanks

Looks like another Ida Amin...sadly Julius Nyerere and Tanzania can't come to rescue this time(did I just say a nice thing about a socalist  ).

The sad thing is that Mugabe is surronded by friendly goverments, that really restricts the amount of action the internation community can take against this F**K**. Not that my goverment would lift a finger to do anything to help anyway

Mugabe is well armed. Any violent uprising at this point would probably lack the grassroots organization to be effective. It's a shame that the Mbeki government continues to dodge their regional responsibilities by allowing this tyrant to roam free. At least some semblance of politico-economic pressure would be welcome from Cape Town.

I don't see Mugabe going anywhere, anytime soon. Upon his death/resignation, however, that's when the shooting starts.

It really is quite amazing that Mugabe has been allowed to get away with so much for so long. An 81 year old president who lays a dinner table place for the ghost of the former leader he had murdered, he has devastated a nation in which he was originally entrusted to safe guard and protect through legitimate democratic institutions.

What is sickening is that repulsive French cretin Jacques Chirac lauds over him when he came to Europe and that spineless Foreign Secretary Jack Straw shook his hand (because of bad lighting my a*se). How can the European West act as great advocates of what is just and right in Africa when they, unintentionally or not, condone the acts of this tyrant by acknowledging him so

This all boils down to political correctness. It's deemed as politically incorrect to insult a black man in any position of success, who has "overcame the prejeduce stacked against him" or whatever. Even if he is a racist, murderous, theiving tyrant. This guy is the black Hitler (just look at the mustache) and his fellow racist and friend, Mbeki, loves him.
