lol theres no point in developing a system to which a countermeasures already exist (e.g. decoy missles) ... 7% success rate is pathetic anyhow.

Haha read this

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/cpress/20050225/ca_pr_on_na/missile_defence_6

Heres a headline for you. "Canada ceases oil exports to the states"

Im glad we didnt go for it, All it's going to do is meld us into the US more and countries that may want to missile the US may find our 2 countries the same one when the nukes come in. If we keep it the way it is now, enemies of the states might set the yeild to not affect Canada. :)

Well, little do MOST people know, our Prime Minister supported the system. Hes currently leading a minority government, and there is much opposition to the defense system by their primary allies in the house of commons - the NDP. In order to grant the NDP's approval of the new budget, the NDP asked Martin if he would "reconsider" his stance on the missle defence. If he really didn't want it, he wouldn't let it fire over canada, or give funding for our NORAD to track incoming missles into the United States. His decision was purely political to save his falling apart government.

I didnt know that, I thought it was just the big mouth embassitor. It makes sense though, martin must tread lightly, though he did get some props from the conservs for the budget. :)

Thats the thing about martin that I don't really respect. I mean he was pro-missle defence then he just turned his back on his party so he could stay in power. I would have had more respect had he been anti-missle defence from the get go. Further, this is a little interesting quote I found:

Quote: The NDP immediately applauded Martin's decision, but leader Jack Layton said the prime minister clearly would have preferred to involve Canada.

It's kind of shady, don't you think? At least with the NDP and Conservatives you know where they stand, the liberals use of broker politics is a disgrace to the country.

Yeah that is true, the libs have always been a shady political organization, hence there long standing terms in office. I voted for libs, I would hoave voted for the NDP but I thought they were too "WISHY WASHY" (no relation to john kerry) on some of their issues. They were rather a little too "green Party" for me. I like the conservs view on a larger army and tighter imigration laws but I disagreed with the Privitization and the Big business support they also promissed (although Cambell (provincial) did those same things :() I found the libs to be the lesser of the 2 evils and voted accordingly. I'm glad though to see a minority gov though, It mmakes it more up to the people now (even while the party is in office) soley becasue if the other parties believe that the backing of the people is failing, they can "no confidence" their asses.

I was glad though (insincere or not) that Martin refused. however to be Frank, even though I'm a righty arshole I Probabaly wouldnt have cared that much if we went along with it.

I support being part of the missle defense system, but really...I do NOT think Canada will ever have a missle launched at it. Hell, I don't even think it will ever happen to the US.
