These are all quotes from leaders:

Sadia Solomons, Western Cape
"Nothing's changed. Everything has got worse. The ANC promised our children work but there is nothing for kids - even if they've been to university."

Nick Molepo, Gauteng
"The government helps people a lot now. Crime is the worst problem around here. I'd like to see more police about and better security."

Fred Williams, Western Cape
"We've had democracy for 10 years, but I'd rather live under the old system. They promised free education, but if you don't pay, your kids get chucked out of school. In the old days we never paid. Then when a child leaves school, there are no jobs. The new South Africa stinks."

Rose Mgwaba, KwaZulu-Natal
"For domestic workers there has been a big change – we have the right to a fair wage, and security. The government is helping but we are not happy with the hospitals. They say you get free tablets, but they don't care about the sick."

That place is a mess, and it's just getting worse and worse. They need Europeans to govern them, they cannot do it themselves. Most of you know about the high crime and HIV rate in SA. They should have left the old system in place.

Uhh... what?
Why do they need Europeans to govern them? They didn't exactly do a fantastic job... Yeah they've got problems, but how do you get "they need Europeans to govern them" out of that?

Besides which, you missed a couple:

Quote: Sipho Manzi, KwaZulu-Natal
The government listens to people. In rural areas where the people were not looked after - no lights, no water - they have that now. It has been slow in some areas, but they are getting there. We are still in a growing process.

The government is fixing the mistakes of 50 years of apartheid. The government must provide young people with basic skills. If someone wants to be an artist or a doctor at an early age, they must get the opportunity to do so. Certain businesses should not be privatised – they should be handled by the government to create jobs."

Quote: Myles Jee, KwaZulu-Natal
The government feels people are there for the government, rather than the government for the people. They feel they are owed the vote, because they got people freedom.

It would be fantastic if the ANC were voted out. But by the time that happens, we'll already have a Mugabe-type situation.

Has ten years made a difference? If you talk to the average white person they will say no, if you talk to the average black person they will say yes.

Also: South Africans on Life Today and Race might also be helpful links here.

I just don't get how you can say the solution is to go back to how things were.

What possible reason could you have for posting that?

I assume you're referring to Rwanda, of which I am quite aware... so my question remains:
