WHERE'S THE SANITY GONE?

By BrotherInArms

I see them in the street as they burn the flag,
We can’t deport them, it makes me mad.
The country is going down the **** at a rat of knots,
While latte drinking uni students think they can hold the fort.
No respect for our laws, the young people today,
Ashamed of what they are, they think its “cool” to be gay.
They’re so confused with what’s in their head,
If they ever goto war they’ll end up dead.

I look at my generation,
Across the nation,
Sitting on their asses playing play station,
Crime out of control,
Robbing old people, smashing places up, turning the situation into a s**t hole.
Unemployment, there’s jobs but no ambition to work.
Want to earn a hundred K a year and not even start as a store clerk.

They take their drugs,
These thugs,
Listen to doof doof music that wants me to throw up.
They use knives in fights,
Criminal delights,
Experiencing new drug heights,
Protesting for minority rights.

It would all be a joke if it wasn’t so real
As I get home from the 7 to 5 and crank on the tool,
Surrounded by fools,
Walking around like mules.

Mother f***ing soft ****, low life spews,
Think they know it all but don’t have a clue,
These scum, theres quite a few but not unbeatable.
So f**k-en stupid yet not understandable.

sounds like some of the speeches I've shouted after a whiskey or five  seriously though I think our generation suffers from a serious lack of any sense of belonging and therefore a sense of ownership(and all the civic virtues that sense brings with it)....plus the culture of "me" continues to spread unabaded....

God, I wish lunatics like that would just *die* already. Ah, yes, the youth of today is much, much worse than the youth of yesterday, which is worse than the youth that came before them, etc.

I'm suprised this race hasn't deteriorated into nondescript piles of goo (it would certainly improve my view of humanity), already, seeing as things just get worse and worse.

Its not so much the youth of this generation as it is the parenting failures of YOUR generation. This is not debatable...keep blaming the shortcomings of your children on hiphop and video games. I wish people like you would spend less time posting poems...and more time masturbating quietly because reading that poem was intellectual masturbation. You dont give a f**k about the social problems of this country. You just enjoy justifying your racist and arrogant mindframe.

Again the term "racist" comes up. People (namely those of the left variety) throw that term around too freely and far too much. What exactly is "racist" about his mindset?

Allow me to use exact quotes from the poem and add a couple words to explain the racism

"protesting for minority rights"- he threw this in the same line with robbing old people and criminal acts.

"doof doof music"- speaks for itself

I know his entire poem wasnt labeled "blacks and hispanics are killing our nation"...but that wasnt the point of my post either.

if you did not notice, he is from Australia.

"minority rights" may very well mean "gay rights". some people that i know are using it this way.

"doof doof music" does not speak for itself. i do not sense any racist element in this phrase. many people of different races listen to this kind of music. so it can hardly be considered to be a reference to a particular race.

point taken...but I would please ask that you read my original post to find that the racism comment was the most insignifigant part of my reply. My major point was that parenting is a lost art.

if we take your point as true, then there is a vicious circle. in order for the previous generation to bring up their kids in a wrong way, there would have to be a mistake made in the generation before, and so forth to the beginning of mankind. even though mistakes in parenting may be one of the causes, there has to be some other reason that would account for what is going on now.

after all, not all people are idiots. this either means that not everything is about parenting, or that there are people who still can be good parents. in any way, i do not see a good explanation why some are good and others are not.

any ideas?

Very true...not all people are idiots. But the situation of our country does not come from the youth...it comes from the ideals of the seperated classes. In our case...we have been left morally bankrupted by consumerism and affluence. Is this the youth's fault?

Kids just want to fit in. If you teach them that respect is more valuable than acceptance...you would not see the dominance of so many of the problems mentioned in that poem.

consumerism and affluence are indeed responsible for a lot of bad things. but i think that the real roots of the problem go even deeper. i think that it is the all-accepting, money centered nature of our bourgeois democratic society. we as a society have lost the ability for sound judgement. we have lost the sight of the true values and can no longer affirm that a particular lifestyle is better than the other. we have become too much like men from Nietzsche's "Thus spoke Zarathustra". if we want things to change, we have to go further than teaching our kids respect. we have to change the way we live and the things we value. this is too big of a task, however, and i don't think that it can be done now. may be some time in the future. who knows?

i was disagreeing only with the racist label that you put on some things. as to the essense of things, i think that we are pretty much in consensus (something that the forums lack all too often). we can start a political party. i think i would enjoy it a lot. but i doubt that we would be able to accomplish anything noteworthy. it goes too much against the current mindset of the majority of people. honestly, i really want to do something, but it's too huge of a task for any human to take. i want some change, but i have no idea where to start and what to do.

Accusing someone of being a "racist" is a serious accusation. It is usually used by leftists to poison the well against a debate opponent. Personally anytime someone throws that word around and I see it, I will challenge them to substantiate the accusation.

I am not dying, I am not going anywhere, I am training up and every day I get stronger!
