Is the next presidential battle royal going to be between Democrat Sen. Hillary Clinton and Republican Rudy Guiliani? That would again be another massive battle.

Question is, Hillary would probably get the Democratic nomination, but would the socially liberal Rudy Guiliani get the Republican one? Jeb Bush claims to be out of the race, but you never know if he'll come back and Sen. John McCain may want to make another bid, hence him staying with the Republicans despite being prickly towards Bush.

Would the conservative base of the Republican Party allow Guiliani to go through.

If he did get through, I think that would be great. The nation would have the chance to vote for a Leftist like Clinton or a socially liberal but policywise conservative like Guiliani. The Republicans could still do 2008

1. Guiliani won't run, at least he said he wouldn't. Probably end up being either Colin Powell (he said he wouldn't run either, but he's massively gullible, so he might anyway) or someone else they really don't think will win.

2. Why is this in International? Should have posted in P&G or an HQ.

I think he would run at the drop of a hat. In fact, I'd wager that this is exactly the scenario that we will see in 2008.
Come on Third parties! We need an alternative worse than ever!

H. Clinton would be a worse nomination than Kerry by the Democrats. If she is nominated in '08, she will lose horribly to almost any Republican can muster. Also, it would show that the Democratic Party has learned nothing from the last few elections.

What will probably happen in '08 is the Republicans will put up another candidate similar to push as far as being conservative and he will lose to the Democrats more moderate candidate they will nominate because they're sick of 8 years of a Republican President. On that note, I think Guilliani would be an excellent Republican candidate in '08 with a good chance of winning.
