Still practicing World War Two fifty years too late,
Nothing has changed for them – not even the date,
Bound and determined to eventually get it right,
Buy some old submarines for an admiral’s delight.
The admiralty should know this but it’s still not nice,
We can’t protect most of our coast line because of ice,
We need icebreakers instead of submarine boats,
Get out the charts and have a look where the ice floats.
It’s cold up there – not like Bermuda -- warm and sunny,
Change where you play war games and this is not funny,
And instead of peacekeeping in some far off distant land,
Visit our icebound coast in icebreakers if you can.
Icebreakers are not as romantic as navy ships,
Could we have both in one, joined at the hips amidships?
This idea may be a leap for admiralty types,
With gold braid on their sleeves and hats and many stripes.
