Hi,
I don't know too much about politics but I wanted to know something. because I need to know some info for a report i'm doing. If a country is a member of the United Nations, does that mean there can't be any coups or revolutions within that country? Like they would be considered illegal..? Would the person who pulled one be put in prison or tried in like International courts?
thank you for all your help in advance. |

I wouldnt think it would cause any differences in a coup of revolution if a country was a member of the UN or not.
I wonder what other people here think. |

Slightly off what was asked, but interesting.
One thing that is out of jurisdiction of the UN is any civil war, or conflict.
Which is way the UN had zero mandate wrt Balkans conflict. |

Hmm..well..what about like the International courts?? Wouldn't a coup or revolution be considered an act of terrorism? |

| america is UN....they sponsor coups all the time. nothing has happened to them. Maybe because it hasn't happened in the US though. I am not sure how te law works there or where the loop holes are. I don't think they have labelled a revolution a terrorist act....yet anyways. |

| I see. Well as crooked as this might sound, I believe that revolutions & coups are an important part of politics and will always be needed at one point or another. They often reflect change. |
